Okay, here's how to make plastic look like metal.
Before we begin, the thing you have to do is understand that this type of paint is made up of both light and heavy particles.  The heavy ones will settle to the lowest points, so be patient.
First, glob on a mess of paint where you want details to really stand out.  Don't worry about losing the details.  We'll fix that.
