The Brief 107 year History of the House

Throughout our years here, we've heard very little about the house other than the fact that "the nicest woman you'd ever want to meet" lived here long before we arrived.  They say that she kept the house in spectacular condition but that it went to seed after she died.  We've pieced together that she passed away was found on the veranda and that it was probably from old age. One neighbor said, "All I really remember of her is that she used to gather up all the kids in the neighborhood and take us down the street for ice cream."
We also know she had a daughter who lived with her and that she may have died of cancer.
It stood as a rental property and steadily declined over the following 25 years until the final tenants moved in and nearly ruined it.
The people who lived on the right side weren't that bad.  It was a single mother with  her daughter and a menagerie of dogs and cats.  The neighbors have had some good things to say about her and that toward the end of her stay she attempted to beautify the place with some basic landscaping using cinder blocks and inexpensive plants.
The house was finally sold to a real estate investor who purchased it in 'as is' condition  but the tenants came with the deal.  They were practically impossible to remove but in April of 2003 he succeeded and their belongings were removed and placed in three roll-off dumpsters.
We purchased the property in November 26th, 2004, had it professionally sanitized and began work on it on March 16th.  We project to have it restored by late 2007**.

8/26/2006   Since the time the above paragraphs were written we've found a few more bits of information.
**3/6/2007    We've also learned that thinking we'd have it finished by the above date was quite naive.
