The Study

6/25/2005      This is the first entry in this section only because we found a nice, big desk for the area today.  We were out buying some stuff for the bathroom on the main floor and spotted a desk in someone's front yard with a big 'free' sign on it.  We tied it onto the car and now we have the first step in this rooms transformation.
We have always been a little unsure of what to do with this room.  It was the right unit's kitchen, so there is already plumbing in place as well as electrical hook-ups.  It seemed a shame to scrub it and they may come in handy when we sell this place one day so we decided to make it a bar, which could easily be made back into a kitchen with the addition of a new refrigerator.  It's a big house.  We think it's wise to assume that by closing a few doors and locking them it could instantly be made back into a duplex for rental purposes.
This left the problem of the office space we use where the dining room table probably sat.  We needed a theme that allowed for both functions and decided a gentleman's study would be perfect.  Imagine yourself back at the turn of the century.
"Okay, old chap, now that we've wrapped up that business, let's have a brandy, shall we?"
This will be an interesting part of the project.  The flow of the house will take you from the dining room through the library and then into the study with the parlor just beyond that.  We're very excited about seeing it happen.
